Masonic Concert

The Palace of the Romanian Athenaeum hosted an outstanding international Masonic concert, on December 19th, 2010, in the Romanian capital, Bucharest. The theme chosen this year was the Tango, part of UNESCO's intangible heritage.

For nearly three hours, guests could watch a royal international music and dance performance presented by Ion Caramitru, former minister of culture. In the great hall of the palace were present almost all members of the Romanian Masonic Grand Lodges and Rites, representatives of national institutions (former ministers, MP's, etc.) and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Bucharest. The event was conducted under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of Romania and will be broadcast on the National Television.

The Supreme Council of Romania Foundation has awarded three prizes to outstanding young talents, thereby promoting the value, an essential component of the Masonic Order. As was mentioned in the speech of the foundation's Director, this is based on the principles of Universal Freemasonry. From abroad came messages of congratulations for this significant cultural, social and philanthropic event where the value played a central role.

The Foundation's President personally handed the first gift to a young violinist who impressed the audience by singing a play. Another initiative of the Foundation was to remove a number of children from orphanages. The Feminine Grand Lodge of Romania and Acvatot Foundation also contributed through donations.

On arrangements of Astor Piazzola, dancers impressed the audience with elegance. Last track (Liber Tango) raised the spectators and the dancers danced again in a round of applause of the spectators.

Romanian Cultural Solidarity Foundation supports the tango tradition

The Argentine and Uruguayan tango tradition now known throughout the world, was born in the slums of Buenos Aires and Montevideo, in the Rio de la Plata basin. Tango encourages diversity and cultural dialogue through an universal mixture of human nature, both physical and spiritual... the couple fuses and the heart does not listen anything else than the fine, troubled, passionate and poetic sounds of the tango...

TANGO was introduced in 2009, on the the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The tango, a dance and music genre so popular in recent decades, so fascinating in the public eye, has taken a very large scale in recent years in Romania, managing to re-classicize in a few years.

In addition to the musical performances uniqueness proposed, the program concept and the show performance will achieve the main goals of an event of great scale:

1. Everyone is dancing tango, and Bucharest is no exception;

2. We live in a time in which the tango returns in Bucharest, but we can say that's more than that, it is a urban socialization way.
